I thought Governor McDonnell’s speech was smart! Delivering the speech in front of a live audience in one of the chambers of the Virginia legislature was very smart. Having worked in the music business for most of my life I can tell you that speaking to a live audience is always easier than trying to talk to a camera. This venue provided a stark contrast to the Bobby Jindal speech of last year. He struck exactly the right tone by being optimistic and upbeat, that America was not in decline and should not be counted out. I was heartened to hear the Tea Party principles being enumerated-limited government, individual freedom, fiscal responsibility. He quoted Thomas Jefferson and emphasized the importance of getting back to the founding principles of our country. He gets America.
